With many people focusing on the Nevada caucus this week, I was glad to run across a lighthearted article in the Las Vegas Review Journal entitled, “‘GREAT AND STUPID’: The People’s Poll“. It is an interesting piece about Review Journal’s first Pop Culture Poll of Things That Really Matter. Some 250 readers participated in this poll that asked readers to compare some classic and new pop culture heroes and icons. Some of the comparisons such as John Barr versus The Chopper and the Maloof Brothers versus the Fertitta brothers were very close to home for those of us who live in the Las Vegas area.
So who won and who lost? Well, The Beatles rocked the Rolling Stones with 161 votes versus only 49. Miley Cyrus upstaged Jamie Lynn Spears with 161 votes to 26. Brunettes came out a-head with 115 votes versus 77 for blondes and Mary Ann proved this newfound pension for brunettes by beating Ginger with 131 votes to 72. UNLV outclassed UNR with 156 votes to 34.
So how did The Donald fare versus Rosie? What about Bingo versus Keno, shrimp cocktails versus California rolls and one of the classics, dogs versus cats? Some of the answers chosen by respondents in the poll may surprise you. Click on the link above to read this article in its entirety and find out who beat whom in this interesting and lighthearted poll.
